Safety Tip of the Day

By mammothmountain

This week is Safety Awareness Week at Mammoth Mountain. Snow Reporter Tyler is giving his subscribers daily tips. His tip for today is:

“When starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield to others.  Be aware of your surroundings and make sure you know where others are on the hill.”

I have a friend who was snowboarding in the area where people getting off Broadway Express and Stump Alley Express merge, right there next to McCoy Station. Someone wasn’t looking, ran into her, and the collision separated her shoulder. It was her birthday.

I agree! This last busy weekend, a skiier popped out from a small trail going way to fast for a merge and almost took out my 9 year old daughter. He nailed her on her head with his pole…good this she was wearing her helmet. Safety should be upmost when skiing with others. If you are by yourself…it is your choice. Please Think before you have those extra beers while on the slopes….
