Old Chair 9’s Last Day
April 7, 2007Mammoth Mountain’s Chair 9 will run as a double lift until 4pm on Sunday, April 8. Light snowpack in the area has caused this closure to come 2 weeks earlier than expected. This summer crews will install a new Chair 9 in the same location with butt-space for four more skiers on each carrier.
Many Chair 9 devotees have inquired about buying an old Chair 9 double-seat. The word is that they will be for sale, but the time, place, and price are TBD.
National Forest Foundation Program
April 7, 2007
Mammoth Mountain has set a new philanthropic program in motion asking skiers to donate $1 to the National Forest Foundation.
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is sited on over 3,326 acres of National Forest, and the donations go towards improving the forest, wildlife and water health, maintaining trails, and monitoring plant species on this land. There are two situations in which you, as a Mammoth guest, have the option to contribute:
- When you buy your 2007-08 Season Pass. There is a suggested amount of $1 per pass, but you may add more.
- When you stay in a Mammoth Mountain-owned lodging property. These include The Village Lodging, the Mammoth Mountain Inn, Juniper Springs Resort and Tamarack Lodge & Resort. The donation is automatically added to your bill; those who wish to opt out can simply notify the front desk.
100% of these contributions go to the National Forest Foundation, a non-profit partner of the U.S. Forest Service. If you would like to make a donation today to the home of Mammoth Mountain, the Inyo National Forest, please visit NatlForests.org or BecomeAFriend.org.
Kiss Me, I’m an MVP
April 7, 2007You have a Mammoth Value Pass – in fact, you’ve had one for years – and you’re one of the lucky ones who got in before the “club” closed. Now you’re getting married this summer, and your bride is not in the club (but you’re marrying her anyway, because even though she would rather sleep in on a stormy powder day, there are some good things about her). Why can’t she get an MVP Pass for next season? It would make life so much easier! Actually, she can. There is a little-known policy in the MVP club: members can bring in their immediate family members (that’s spouses and dependents), but only during the month of April. Now you’ll have plenty of time to teach her your skills so she can move on from pizza-wedging down Broadway.
